THE FITNESS LOTTERY

Before COVID happened, more of us were getting more active, more often, with a slight increase year-on-year, with just over 62% were classed as active (150+ minutes per week).

COVID-19 has had an effect on all of us and our ability to be active.

Since the March 2020 lockdown, there has been a drop of 7% of active adults, that represents 3 MILLION people are now doing less than the recommended level of exercise

Being active is proven to help build your immune system, which helps fight off illnesses and disease.

In a recent Sport England survey, they found that:

Every £1 spent on community sport and physical activity generates nearly £4 for the English economy and society

£3.6bn worth of savings generated by the prevention of 900,000 cases of diabetes

£450m saved by preventing 30m additional GP visits

Only a 1/3rd of those aged 75+ were able to do exercise, and now over 50% are classed as inactive

Those with long term health issues have been affected dramatically, with levels ranging between only 50% (1 health issue) down to 33% (3+) being able to access services.

All the profit generated from this lottery will all go to fund community-based projects to help get local people active.

BY PLAYING THE FITNESS LOTTERY EVERY WEEK, YOU WILL BE HELPING PEOPLE IN YOUR COMMUNITY BECOME ACTIVE AGAIN
